Explosion in NW Pakistan Kills Two Policemen, Injures Dozens

(MENAFN) An explosion in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday killed two policemen and injured 32 others, including five additional police officers and 27 civilians, according to reports.

The blast occurred around 5:00 p.m. local time in a market area of South Waziristan district while officers were conducting a routine patrol. Deputy Superintendent of Police Asghar Ali Shah said the incident was caused by an improvised explosive device placed near the main gate of a supermarket in the crowded area.

Following the explosion, local residents, police, and rescue teams responded quickly, transporting the injured to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Provincial Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the attack and instructed authorities to provide the best possible medical care to those affected. He also expressed grief over the loss of life and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.
