Help make transportation safe and sustainable!
SANTA FE, N.M., Aug. 8, 2026—The Santa Fe County Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) has room for three new members. This 13-member committee advises the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) on transportation planning policy to make all forms of transportation safe and sustainable.
The committee plays an important role in reviewing transportation plans, policies, funding priorities, and capital improvement projects. Committee members help ensure that County investments promote safety, mobility, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and equitable access for residents, businesses, and visitors.
The committee may recommend improvements for roads, trails, bicycle paths, and pedestrian facilities, as well as safety studies, road operations, and maintenance policies.

The TAC is currently looking for three candidates to serve a three-year term: one candidate to represent District 2, one candidate to represent District 5, and an At-Large Member from either district 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Members of the committee are appointed by the BCC, based on letters of interest, qualifications and geographic representation.
Individuals with expertise in transportation planning, engineering, transit, roadway design, traffic operations, active transportation, accessibility, trails, freight, public safety, sustainability, and emerging mobility are encouraged to apply.
Minimum qualifications and requirements:
- Education or experience in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, Land-Use planning, Landscape Architecture, Planning Law, or Public & Policy Administration
- Experience managing active transportation, trails, or multimodal projects
- Experience in working with a state department of transportation, metropolitan planning organization, regional transportation planning organization, other planning agencies, or planning committees
- Strong understanding of current national and local guidelines, particularly for transportation planning programs and facilities
- Experience in understanding technical reports, studies, data, and planning documentation
