Swiss trade infrastructure provider recognised for tokenized warehouse receipts, bringing legally enforceable digital titles from shipment to storage

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Secro, the trusted digital infrastructure for critical data and documents behind global commodity trade, has won the Finance Innovation Award at the Commodities Innovation Awards 2026, organised by Ampersand World and Bilan. The award recognises Secro's extension of tokenized trade finance to inventory finance, bringing legally enforceable digital titles to commodities in storage.

Storage remains one of the highest-risk stages in commodity trade. Warehouse receipts and holding certificates still largely circulate as paper or PDF documents that can be duplicated or falsified, and goods can be released without the financing bank's knowledge. As a result, banks often discount warehouse collateral and apply higher margins, limiting the financing traders can obtain against their inventory.

Secro's solution allows banks and traders to issue, pledge, transfer, split and cancel Tokenized Warehouse Receipts and Holding Certificates as legally valid and enforceable digital titles, recognised under Swiss, UK, Singapore, US and French law. Each instrument is a unique, cryptographically sealed original held by the pledgee bank. Combined with Secro's tokenized electronic bills of lading and trade finance workflows, the platform covers the full cycle from shipment to warehouse on a single immutable audit trail.

Key benefits for banks and traders include:

- Lower risk: double issuance becomes impossible, and no pledged goods are released without explicit authorisation.
- Speed: partial releases are executed in under 30 seconds instead of three to five days.
- Real-time collateral management: collateral tracking and confirmations move to API integrations.
- Stronger financing: better-secured collateral opens the door to higher financing levels against inventory.

In its assessment, the jury noted that while tokenization in commodities is not new, securing title to inventory through tamper-proof documentation is a genuine innovation for the sector. The jury also highlighted that the solution is open to any bank or trader rather than owned by a single institution, and that better-secured collateral will allow traders to request higher financing for their stocks.

"Every week we hear from banks and traders that warehouse collateral is where trust breaks down," said Laetitia Alonso, Director of Sales at Secro. "This award recognises what our clients have been asking for: inventory that can be financed with the same confidence as a shipment under a tokenized eBL. We're proud to receive it in Geneva, at the heart of commodity trading, and even prouder of the team that built it."

The inventory finance solution is currently in its pilot phase with banking and trading partners. The same protocol that issues tokenized eBLs and warehouse receipts today is designed to extend to receivables, repos and secondary collateral transfers.

The full jury assessment is available on Bilan.
